AMA #1
about the designing building and all extras, are the artwork original? what are the process to build a building. could you please go over the process?
We're going to be a permissionless marketplace, just like OpenSea, meaning the creators are responsible for the originality of their own artwork. So basically, when you're putting a building up for sale, you'd want to keep your design authentic (original), since your wallet address is recorded and visible when listing NFTs, so if you're infringing on other people's copyrights, that'll clearly be apparent, so you're responsible for your own work and transparency. This means anyone can upload their artworks & creations, having them appear on the marketplace.
If you're familiar with 3D modeling, you can create your own objects/models to import (or make an object, comprised of several imported copyright-free models, if you're not very proficient in any of the NNY - Open Toolkits available). If you're not familiar with 3D modeling, you can simply purchase buildings off our marketplace or a third party one and place them on top of the land with a relatively intuitive UI, similar to Decentraland's editor. You can also have someone else decorate the interior space of your building.
When you buy a building, it is just a .obj 3D file. How can we layer it into different floors and sell separately and how to let game characters "walk" inside and participate in events? If I sell away the building or floor later, am I selling portion of land away as well as in strata title?
Buildings and anything planted on the land can be imported in the form of .obj files, but can be represented in the form of NFTs, containing multiple .obj files & whatnot associated with the building itself, allowing you to list them on the marketplace (either L1 or L2) for others to purchase/rent. You can walk around the city itself, so public areas, being able to immerse yourself in views from afar, as well as entering buildings (& their separate rooms) and being able to join and/or participate in events. So in short, the ecosystem supports virtual characters, just like in Decentraland, allowing you to partake in similar events & activities, as well as any of the aforementioned possibilities.
If you sell a building that's on your land, you will no longer be able to sell that specific land, as long as you don't have 100% ownership of it. You'll be able to split the land into smaller pieces, but not at this stage, as it's a bit too early for that.
Apart from burning and migrating for the game ... will Landloots and Lucky Dogs play other roles within NNY? Will there be build models for bars , pizza places , open rooftops, etc.?
in order to play the game what are the nfts we need?
At the moment, you need a single Treasure Island land lot in your wallet for the game to work. If you've got multiple plots of TI land, you need to transfer them to different wallets, as only one is allowed. (Plots of Treasure Island land were part of a free mint at our Landloot site, so it was initially limited to one per wallet)
I think its great that this game gives the ability to work on Layer 1 or Layer 2. How will it practically work? I understand buying a plot is necessarily on Layer 1 while farming a tree is only on Layer 2. Will there be parts of the game you can do only on L1 and some only on L2 ? From a security point of view sjould we consider more risky to work on both Layers?
In the Ethereum space, whether it be Layer 1 or Layer 2, we're secured by the blockchain, so we don't have to worry about security whatsoever, apart from people not disclosing their sensitive data by themselves. We want to keep land on Layer 1, as it represents the biggest NFT marketplace (e.g. OpenSea), we also want to have Layer 2 for its utility with 0 gas fees. The advantage of L1 is its size and traffic, but does come with gas fees. On L2, you don't have any gas fees, only when transferring back onto L1, but you compromise on the size, as there are less wallets on L2 than on L1. We want to save on gas fees as well as giving people the flexibility of being able to work on both layers.
so I have a LL on IMX however I still need a treasure island nft to mint?
or just wait after AMA as I have listed my info in the whitelist form?
A plot of Treasure Island land is surely one of the ways to reserve NNY land (by harvesting apple points), but whitelisting is another way, as well as staking certain NFTs temporarily until the reservation results in a succesful purchase or expires. (more info @NNY - NFT HOLDERS)
Can you explain NeoNY to me like im your grandma, am I in the new zuckerverse thingy? Can you speak to the long term vision / goals of NeoNY? Ways the game may evolve ?? What ways will NeoNy continue to grow the space and community?? Are there utilities down the road that will create opportunities and incentives for attracting newcomers to neoNy?
In the long term, we want NNY to be more (photo)realistic, as well as having more real e-commerce transactions, connecting the virtual world with the real world, bridging as many gaps between the two platforms as possible, so lots of interconnected brands and content is to be expected. The entire NNY space will be governed by DAO, as mentioned in NNY - GOVERNED BY DAO.
You can have multiple local DAOs within a few city blocks (key-point here is that it's a smaller perimeter than the metaverse itself). That means localized content will be resting in the hands of community members through voting in local DAOs, instead of a global one, so street bars and anything that may be a bit different will be voted on by smaller, local DAOs, comprised of the community within a smaller area of land.
In terms of NFT DAO utilities, we're not limiting the DAO to just voting, as we'll be adding lots of functions along the way.
We will probably have some non-tradable NFTs, which we may allocate to an "honorable" DAO member, some reputable person could get involved with the governance of the DAO, by helping us govern the DAO and protecting the interests of every member. At this particular moment, we're focusing on the backend system working more smoothly, but later on, we'll be focusing on marketing, which will help drive traffic to the marketplace and metaverse itself.
And as has been the case with our colleagues at Landloot (e.g. Launchpad proceeds distributed to voters), we'll have similar incentives as well as additional ones connected to events & whatnot in the future.
